Travelogue: Japan '26
From one concrete jungle to another. Tokyo and Taipei strike me for their resemblance. Like sisters, not quite twins. Another approach this time, no Shinkansen, no train, no city, a week of sea and mountains.
Camping and sleeping in the car. Occasionally a hotel, to rest, an onsen to bathe.
Heavy rain and wind on the first day. Falling asleep the tops on the roof and the waves crashing ashore. There is much beauty here. In the elements, in the coastline and wonderful vistas, but also in the way of life. Community, Proximity to nature, simplicity and beauty.
Down the side of Izu, up through the mountains, circle Fuji. Back towards the concrete jungle to head home. Sharp contrast, sea, sun, forests, mountains and finally concrete and asphalt.
