Reading notes: Een Schitterende Leegte
I quite enjoyed 'Een Schitterende Leegte'. The book was not so profound for me, and the writer's inexperience was maybe a little noticeable, but it was very pleasant to read, which definitely contributed to being able to finish it in less than 5 days.
The findings in the book were not exceptionally insightful, but they were presented in a very stream of conscious way that made them approachable and understandable. The sort of first-person perspective helped in this goal of making everything feel more relatable, and thus also land the perspective of the writer more in our minds.
The overall goal is very admirable, and worth implementing our our own lives. To stop optimizing everything. To just enjoy things and sit with time for large parts of our day. Boredom has seemingly only been invented in the 21st century together with the iPhone and social media. It's something I've been striving towards for a while already, so I'm happy to get a little bit of insight in our thought processes that drive us into this direction.
The best part of the book however has to be her description of love on page 125. It's worth revisiting at any time.
